Originally established as Boulton Funeral Directors in 1866 and was founded by Samuel Boulton. The business then became Griffin and Sons in the 1870's until it was taken over by Ewart Cobden Alderwick in 1945. Ewart became a popular figure in and around the Kingswood area, playing football at a high level for Cadbury Heath. Ewart's only son Roy followed his father's footsteps and also entered the family business. The current principle directors Mr Philip Alderwick and Mr Derek Gunningham are the son and son-in-law of Roy Alderwick with the fourth generation also active members of the business."
